My Antique Silvertone Guitar

The only guitar I have ever bought.

It’s true. I’ve been playing guitar for over 10 years now, (although you might not be able to tell) and I have luckily never had to buy a guitar. Last September, on a visit to Asheville during a Newfangled work retreat, I came across this beauty in an antique store on Lexington Ave. in downtown Asheville. When I lived in Asheville, Lexington was my favorite street to hang out on. I’d go to Bobo Gallery, bar, Izzy’s Coffee, and the sweet used bookstore across the street from Izzy’s. When I went into the antique store on this particular day, I told my friends I was with that I was hoping to find either an old Spanish guitar or “an old small guitar.” I was shocked when I came across this Silvertone. It was marked at $110, and I was able to talk them down a whole $10, although it could have been more if I had paid with cash. Anyways, I love this guitar, and I would still like a Spanish guitar. Maybe it will come around one day soon. Below is a video of me playing Swing Low Sweet Chariot on it a few months ago when I was sick.
