Video of a Completed Moleskine Sketchbook

Here’s a rough look at my recently filled Moleskine sketchbook. I always struggle really filling them towards the end, because transitioning into a new one can be somewhat difficult. There are a few pages left sort of half-done, but now is a good time to start a new one since I’m working on new projects.

You’ll probably recognize many of the pages since I’ve scanned them for the site or I’ve included some of the imagery here and there in different collages and wallpapers. I know this isn’t the best way to experience a sketchbook, but I thought it’d be interesting to share anyway. If you’ve done something similar, please leave a link in the comments so we can all see it. I think an entire website could be devoted to just videos and documentation of artist sketchbooks.

Dude, we need to hang out sometime, or at least meet in person first. :)

That is really inspiring. I just picked up a new moleskin last week, so far it’s been for keeping notes and sketching ideas.

But I love your collage work. So beautiful. Keep the good work coming.

Kyle, thanks for the kind words. Maybe we will meet someday. In the meantime, consider your sketchbook as a mind-dump. Play, work, and make messes in there!

    Pass it on. ;)

Maybe not great critical feedback, but:

WON-DER-FUL Moleskine galore. Awesome spreads, each pieces of art. The only spread I didn’t enjoy as much as the others was the kite one.

Thank you, Jos. I agree, my watercolor skills are lacking. I turned that spread into the May desktop wallpaper last year. I think the typography helps the drawing out a bit.

Appreciate all of the feedback, folks!

Great idea, Able. I’ve seen most of these pieces, though it’s great to see them in context, as it were. Love your work. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you for the kind words, Johno. And thanks for tweeting about it earlier.

I grateful that people find this video inspiring. It encourages me to continue playing. That’s what sketchbooks are for, anyway!

i’ve collected tonnes of note books over my sketches over the years but i don’t think any of them has as many cool pages as yours does! You’ve got an amazing collection there! Keep up the fantastic work!

shesasheep, I sincerely doubt that is true. We can be our most difficult critic.

Mine may be different from yours, but not better. Keep working at it. If you post any online, please let me know. I’d love to see what others are doing in their sketchbooks.
