If We Could See the Future

Here are a couple of collages I created that are loosely based on the idea of seeing the future, and the peace or fear that would come with it.

In the past, I’ve made work dealing with memory. It’s interesting to think in the other direction.

Here, the first image depicts a man peering through the dark peacefully, while the other sees almost everything around him, but lives in fear. Notice he does not know who the tombstone is for, but guards it carefully.

to see into the dark future peacefully

to see into the bright future with fear

Do you think if we had the ability to see into the future we would also see what choices we made to get to that point? Or would it just be us seeing our failed or succeeded lives? If we see failure will we stop trying and thus ensure failure? If we see success would we keep working hard?
